Senior Director of Sales

Responsibility:  The candidate will be responsible for driving sales of electric vehicle charging stations, industrial energy management systems, microgrid systems, and power converters/inverters into the alternative energy and electrical infrastructure markets. Customer base includes electric utilities on the East and West Coast, domestic military bases, electric vehicle manufacturers, electric vehicle infrastructure companies, and advanced battery manufacturers. The Director of Sales will be expected to help determine marketing strategies, generate leads, follow-up, and manage all steps of the sales cycle to close. The candidate will work with a small team of junior sales engineers and representatives. The candidate will report directly to Executive Management. The company will be launching several new products this year as well as selling an existing product line with several existing high-profile installations.

Requirements:  Contacts in the industry and general knowledge of electrical systems and battery systems required, though specific knowledge of microgrids and advanced battery applications not necessary. BSE desired, 10+ years successful sales experience in a technical industry required. Candidate should have some management experience. Interest in and experience with alternative energy, photovoltaics, electric vehicles, a plus.

Applications Engineer

Job Description: Applications Engineer responsible for assisting Senior Applications Engineer in completing projects and a variety of technical tasks. Sample tasks include creating and reviewing electrical system drawings, designing and drafting mechanical structures (metal battery racks, etc), documenting material lists and technical work, drafting test procedures, etc. May also assist with technical aspects of writing proposals. Will be trained in basic evaluation and troubleshooting of 3-phase inverters and electrical systems.

Requirements: Candidate should hold a BA or BS and have an interest and basic knowledge in electrical and mechanical technology.  Candidate should also have experience with design software, such as AutoCad. Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description:  The Sr. Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for design of control algorithms, remote communications, and software code applicable to power converters, inverters, and motor drive products.  The job involves developing embedded system control architectures; coding control software, sensor sampling, triggering, and user I/O interface software; executing unit and system testing; and writing documentation. The position also requires guiding the work of 2 to 4 other software engineers to ensure on-time, successful implementation of projects. Close collaboration and problem solving with other engineering disciplines, particularly power electronics and test engineers, will be necessary.

Drafter/Designer

Job Description:  A leading designer and manufacturer of large power electronic products in the energy and utility market is looking for a skilled drafter/designer. The position requires someone with knowledge and experience working with Pro/E.  The candidate will work closely with design engineers and generate – fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, wire harnesses, for manufacturing.  The candidate will also be expected to work with suppliers and the assembly/test team on both R&D type projects and production jobs.

Job Requirements: The candidate will have one to two years experience creating 2-D design and manufacturing drawings.

Associates degree or minimum 2 years of drafting/designing experience required.  Experience with industrial power and control applications, preferably with power converter manufacturing is a plus.

Prototype Test Engineer

Job Description: Responsible for safe and complete testing of the prototypes units. It includes parts, sub-assembly and final unit testing from bring-up to design verification to performance to Certification testing. Job includes review of req’ts, industry test standards and develop test plan and test procedures. Job also includes setting up prototytpes, performing test, test data recording and writing test report. They will interface with various design engineers, test technicians, outside test labs, component manufacturers, and test certification agencies (UL/TUV) etc.

Advanced product includes power converters for renewable energy sector in 100kW to MW range at 600V to 50kV DC. Tests include Dielectric withstand, voltage withstand, power efficiency, steady-state, transient response, MIL Shock/Vib, EMI/EMC, Acoustic, Accel life cycle testing, environmental, and Certification tests per IEEE, ANSI, UL, CEC, CSA, EN, IEC, etc.

Previous management and/or supervision experience.  High Power and High Voltage Experience from 1 MW to 600V or higher. Previous design experience is a plus. The ability to strategize test methodology based on specifications. Familiar with industry standard test equipment, capitol planning and facility resources. Field service experience with power electronics.

Job Requirements: A Prototype Test Engineer should be comfortable with creating test procedures from specifications and test standards. They should also be able to make test planning. They must be able to assist Technicians in complicated test setups or even the installation of new equipment. They should be a role model in safety and documentation. They will not only deliver data sheets, but be able to incorporate them into compliance reports to meet customer specific needs. They should also be able to assist in quoting time to delivery, or identify major tasks and resources. They should be able to work with power levels up to 1 MW and train others. Experience in Power Supplies, Inverters, batteries and Generators. They should be able to sign off a test setup as safe including wire size, impedances, ampacity and circulation. They should be able to work closely with design and R&D, and produce deliverables from those interactions. They should be able to minimize risks associated with high power testing. They will work with design engineers and recommend design refinements.

Rotating Machine Control Specialist

Job Description: As a Rotating Machine controls specialist, you will responsible for developing power-converter controls for efficient operation of renewable energy generators (wind, wave, diesel) and also AC motors, both legacy and advanced technology. It includes understanding of theory of operation of rotating machines, developing the concept for controlling both voltage source and current source power converters to interface optimally with these machines, validate thru modeling and simulation and verification thru building controls, integration into converter, and testing. The design shall be for commercial and military applications. Tasks system modeling and control algorithm simulation, also include designing and writing C code, defining DSP, FPGA, and analog circuit requirements, prototyping and debugging systems in the lab, as well as writing detailed product definitions/specifications.

The successful candidate will possess a Masters in Electrical Engineering plus 5-10 years experience in the development of digital control for generators/motors. The ideal candidate is required to have strong knowledge of digital speed control algorithms, digital filter algorithms, and design of motors, but is also required to implement such systems in a “hands on” lab environment.

Experience in the following preferred.

  • Modeling and simulation of Generator/Motor and power converter systems using Dymola.
  • Knowledge of power electronics controls theory for voltage and current controls
  • Knowledge of speed/torque controls
  • Familiarity with PWM trapezoidal and sinusoidal drive methodologies
  • Active harmonic filtering techniques
  • Embedded C and assembly programming.
  • Strong experience in software implementing digital speed and filter algorithms.

Job Description: Specifically this individual will: Design utility grade power electronic converters, Selection/design of PE components to meet performance required. Design duties includes but not limited to,

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, with specialization in Power Electronics. PhD preferred. 5+ years experience in designing of power electronic components – power switching stacks, transformer, inductors. Any previous research project related to optimum efficiency, cost and reliability of power components is a plus. Analytical knowledge of magnetics, power semi-conductor devices. Ambition to develop leadership capabilities and lead the projects from concept to final production.

Power Electronics Test Technician

Electronics technician sought who will work with the design engineering team to test both standard and prototype power electronic products.  Test Technician shall have previous experience with testing and handling of electric circuitry. Candidate must be comfortable with the testing of PCB’s, power electronics, transformers and inverters.  In addition, testing of large cabinet style products used in the energy and utility industry with tools such as load banks.

Candidate shall possess the ability to read engineering drawings containing both mechanical and electrical information and know how to test a product to a compliance specification.  Also, candidate shall have experience with continuity, AC and DC voltages, current and power controls.  Minimum 2 years of experience with industrial power and control products, particularly power generation and distribution systems is required.  Experience with motor/generator control and an understanding of the basic principles of power electronics and Software is a plus.
