Princeton, NJ, June 23, 2009 - Princeton Power Systems (PPS) is announcing the approval of its commercial GTIB 480-100 Grid Tied Inverter under the Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) Standard 1741. The GTIB 480-100 interconnects various DC power sources, including photovoltaics and battery banks, to the electric grid to provide clean, efficient electricity. The GTIB can also work with AC generators of many types, and is capable of operating a "micro-grid" when disconnected from utility power.
UL 1741 is a standard of safety and reliability for grid-tied inverters, converters, charge controllers, and interconnection system equipment. UL 1741-approved power producing devices offer protection to people and equipment, particularly in the event of utility power failure, making them more marketable to grid-connected power projects.
"The GTIB is a uniquely flexible product for commercial-scale applications, since it is compatible with a wide variety of DC and AC generators," said Marshall Cohen, President & CEO of PPS. "And with UL approval, our customers can specify the GTIB for their installations knowing that it meets all required regulations and is automatically eligible for alternative energy and efficiency rebates."
Under the newly passed New Jersey Renewable Energy Manufacturing Incentive (NJREMI), solar integrators that are proposing and installing projects in the state of New Jersey that purchase the UL-certified GTIB will receive an additional rebate between $.05- $.09 per kilowatt, depending on the size of the system. The rebate is above and beyond the normal rebates offered by the State? Clean Energy Program. The purpose of the NJREMI incentive is to promote the growth and development of the Renewable Energy Industry within New Jersey.
